Entry Requirements:
It is mandatory that a pupil has gained Grade A*-C (or equivalent) in GCSE ICT and desirable to have had a Grade A-C in English/Welsh and Mathematics before starting the specification.
What is Applied ICT?
The WJEC GCE in Applied ICT has been written so as to offer students a highly contemporary experience in ICT. It seeks to provide innovation in its delivery and promotes student creativity through the paperless scheme of assessment. Real world problems require real world solutions, solutions that acknowledge the multi-faceted nature of ICT in society today. The course allows students to develop their skills in the following areas:
• ICT and Business • Project Management • Multimedia Design
What will I learn whilst studying ICT?
This course in ICT requires learners to demonstrate the ability to:
• think creatively, logically and critically
• select, use and integrate ICT tools and techniques to meet needs
• find, select and evaluate information for its relevance, value, accuracy and plausibility
• manipulate and process data and other information, sequence instructions, model situations and explore ideas
• communicate data and information in a form fit for purpose and audience
• adopt safe, secure and responsible practice when using ICT
• develop appropriate and effective ICT-based solutions in a range of contexts
• evaluate their own and others’ use of ICT.
