Curriculum
In September 2022, the primary sector of Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Morgannwg will begin to follow a new curriculum which follows the framework provided by Curriculum for Wales. We have created YGBM’s curriculum following discussions with pupils, teachers, parents and governors and we are very excited to present this new, innovative curriculum. The school’s secondary sector will follow the new curriculum in September 2023.
Our curriculum follows the principles of Curriculum for Wales, and at its heart are the Four Purposes for Learners, which are the cornerstone for the development of successful learners and responsible citizens. The curriculum has been tailored to develop:
- Healthy, confident individuals
- Ambitious, capable learners
- Enterprising, creative contributors
- Ethical, informed citizens
In order to realise our curriculum, we will be working in six Areas of Learning and Experience:
- Languages, Literacy and Communication
- Mathematics and Numeracy
- Science and Technology
- Humanities
- Health and Wellbeing
- Expressive Arts
Within the Curriculum for Wales framework there are descriptions of learning. Teachers will consider these descriptions along the pupils’ journey through school and assessment arrangements will continue to be developed and established over the next year. We will continue to provide feedback in lessons and on pupils’ work in order to lead them to their next steps.
YGBM’s curriculum will be developed and refined continuously and this will continue as we evaluate regularly. We will do this by communicating with all stakeholders in order to create and maintain a challenging curriculum, underpinned by teaching and experiences.
